BENETTI LEGAL SYMPOSIUM III EDITION

Viareggio, May 15, 2025 – The third edition of the Benetti Legal Symposium, the event conceived and promoted by Benetti’s internal legal team in collaboration with the company management, has concluded. Since 2023, the event has been a calendar landmark for professionals from international nautical law firms, proving to offer a unique opportunity to discuss the most relevant regulatory developments and the most critical contractual clauses in negotiations.

In the two previous editions, where Benetti’s commercial management was also present, the discussion proved to support the pursuit of faster and more efficient contractual negotiation. This year, for the third edition, the event received the patronage of the ICC – International Chamber of Commerce – which participated in the Legal Discussion with three of its representatives. The focus was on the delicate issue of maritime arbitration, with the aim of exploring the benefits of ICC arbitration and starting a group brainstorm on a possible revision of the traditional arbitration clauses in yacht construction contracts.

 During the Legal Symposium, the discussion included the issues of Trade In and the regulation of relationships with nautical brokers, which increasingly require unequivocal and shared management among the players in the sector.

Georgia Agù, the Group General Counsel of Azimut|Benetti, underlined the importance of the initiative: “In the yachting sector, the law applied is often English law, with consolidated practices that require highly specialized skills. There are few lawyers with expertise in yachting, and our legal team negotiates the contracts directly. This is where the idea of ​​creating a periodic moment of discussion in Italy between the major experts in the sector was born.”

The 2025 edition took place on May 12th and 13th between San Gimignano, at the inspiring La Cappuccina Country Resort, and the Benetti shipyard in Livorno, welcoming more than 50 professionals.
